One of the benefits of having twins is that you have more ultrasounds. I don’t know about you, but I think it is pretty amazing to be able to see your babies while they are still in the womb. My OB/GYN has us see a maternal-fetal medicine specialist on a monthly basis to check-up on the twins. We were able to schedule our first appointment for when my parents were in town. It was incredibly special to be able to not only see our sweet little girls moving around, but also have my parents there to experience it too. It brought back memories for them of when my mom was pregnant with us and made the knowledge that they were soon to be grandparents even more real! We are excited for Austin’s parents to join us at our next appointment, so they can “meet” the twins too.

The funny thing about this appointment is that we went into it not 100% sure both twins were girls. At the last appointment with my OB/GYN at 14 weeks, the ultrasound tech thought one of the twins might be a boy. We spent the next three weeks wondering if we were having two girls or a girl and a boy. We were thrilled with either combination, but were DYING to know. Thankfully the maternal-fetal medicine specialist was able to confirm right away that both twins are girls! As excited as we were to finally know the genders for sure, we were even more thankful to know that both girls are healthy.
